Background
ModularIT was born as a response of the strategic decision took back in 2004 by the companies that form Grupo CPD to establish a common technology and associate procedures that allow them to share the same bussines model, based on a new and open technology, based on free software, feeping internal independence between the companies. That idea derived in this project and its timeline has been the following:
* ModularIT requirements are developed from the solutions Grupo CPD companies were using by that time.: end of 2004
* The first stable version of ModularIT (0.9 version) is finished: end of 2006
* Grupo CPD customers begin to migrate from previous technologies to ModularIT v0.9: mid 2006
* Most of Grupo CPD customers had ModularIT v0.9 by the end of 2006
* New procedures related with support, maintenance, deployment and other basic actions developed and the development of the new version begins: end of 2006
* ModularIT v1.0 is done by mid 2007
* Grupo CPD customers migrate to the new version during the second half of 2007. New procedures are develop and many more updated.
* ModularIT v 1.0 is published under GPL2 version in March 2008
* ModularIT v1.1 (codename Timanfaya) begins its development right after becoming a free software project.
* ModularIT v1.1 is stable by mid 2008.
* Grupo CPD customers migrate to the new Timanfaya version on the second half of 2008
* ModularIT v1.1 is published under GPLv3 and the community project is defined: December 2008
* ModularIT is presented at FOSDEM in the official program: February 2009
* ModularIT management service is published under GPLv3 as part of the community project: may 2008
